i made this quilt for my sister...and i finished it while on my recent alberta visit....it felt sooo good to complete this beautiful quilt and leave it behind.... i think my sister and i both thought it would never be completed.....
marie daugherty webster [1859-1956] was an innovative quilt designer. color pictures of her first 14 quilts appeared in ladies home journal as early as 1911 bringing her nation wide fame. in october 1915 the magazine featured her interpretation of a traditional favorite , wreath of roses. [ from american patchwork and quilting april 1997 ] which is where my sister and i first saw and fell totally in love with this quilt ....
began in 2002...completed in 2012 |
hand applique and hand quilted with yellow french knots in each flower center |
i used a wreath stencil and a 1 1/2 " grid for the hand quilt design |

after 10 long years it was pure joy to prepare the binding xoxo |
