blue stripey lone star spangled quilt...

specially requested by isaac and ani for a combined birthday gift xo

love working with blues xoxo

i am using this stripey lone star block tutorial from Liesl Made but instead of paper piecing i chose to do a muslin foundation [cuz i hate tearing out the paper after]

fabric LOVE

best morning ever...sewing and the inauguration xoxo
hail to the chief xoxox

i doubled the requirements...and i am using chunkier strips...my first star measures about 28" and i am so happy the  triangles cooperated with me xoxox

and what  a nice place to leave this...i want to make sure that they LOVE LOVE LOVE it ....if so i plan on making 16 blocks in total so the quilt should finish up around 108 x 108

me and my honey stayed at the salish lodge last friday...compliments of our girls for our 27th xoxox
tomorrow we celebrate ~ my son isaac and his aunt julie  share a january 22nd birthday xoxo ...wednesday i leave with aunt julie for a sweet puerto vallarta visit with lily xoxoxo

wonky circle solid love

i joined up w val @ pinkplease to help make a quilt for the the heroes foundation ... inspired by erica's improv circles...val made an easy tutorial...thanks val for organizing this project xo
each block finished up quite different...the block measures 14.5 so 4 together makes one large 29" wonky circle xoxo

i love this wonky block and it is was nice to help w a charity quilt that remembers our loved ones...mine is dedicated to my MOM ...she passed away november 1997 from colon cancer at the age of 74 xoxoxoxo

BONUS.... i found this in my solid scraps patiently waiting to be completed xoxo

nyc hurricane sandy quilt relief ~ the making and giving away of " BRIGHTER DAYS "

back in  november ....hurricane sandy happened and when i saw gathering fabric's newsletter i decided to make a quilt...started out with 2 1/2 " wof strips sewing 3 strips together
and cut them into 6 1/2 " square blocks....my first plan had  a low volume idea

but looking at this i decided to add some solid white ...

put several rows together rail fence style...fell in love but then life happened....it sat for awhile...
over christmas break it surfaced again xoxox

and i finished piecing and managed to get it on the longarm
used some ufo blocks for the back

and fell in love  xoxo
white might not be the most practical but this is a HAPPY quilt...
i took a lot of photos

machine quilted it w modern links by jodi robinson

decided on a white binding...more in love  xoxo

i stamped a label...cuz i am a stamper now xoxox
and  today i attached a card

with a special note ...and dropped it off at my lqs   ...a big thank you to susan at gathering fabric for being a local drop off  ...she has already sent 13 quilts to luana@ equilter and is getting ready to ship more  xoxo

luana @ equilter has the amazing goal of collecting 5000 quilts for hurricane sandy !!
check out the  nyc sandy quilt relief photos here....so wonderful to see hundreds  and
