HOT SUMMER NIGHTS FOR LILY ~ blogger's quilt festival 2013

 

i chose this quilt to share on BQF  ~ i made HOT SUMMER NIGHTS  special for my youngest daughter lily who is living in mexico right now

it was my very first time w kaffe....getting to know him was so fun...deciding on design was challenging xo

i fell absolutely in love with kaffe and fabric shopped several times xo   love this saying from my friend  pam..."usually with kaffe you need MORE kaffe"

used this ruler and alternated light and brights

included a special memory triangle from my mom's blouse...so nice for lily to have a piece of her alberta gramma in her quilt xo

many many triangles later it finished up queensize and gorgeous...this quilt absolutely GLOWS

used a wonderful orange/ purple dot for the binding

i machine quilted it with take 5 by patricia ritter

this special quilt finished up incredibly soft and light with the rayon voille back...more here...perfect for those hot mexico nights...

managed to finish this quilt up just in time for lily's visit

boo hoo to  saying good bye again but so happy to send her off with her special quilt xo

so excited ~ heading to portland for quilt market in the morning....
when i get back lily will be gone with her beautiful quilt...

  then i am off to portland for quilt market!!
  eeeeeeee there is a bit too much goodness happening in my life right now !!

woo hoo !!

felt like there was a wild KAFFE party going on in my sewing room yesterday !!

was going to use a bright solid pink for the binding but it was longing for MORE kaffe once again!!

finished up beautifully xo more here

do not be afraid to use a rayon voile for the back ~ this has the softest feel EVER

and i am very happy with my triangle choice for quilting...i used take five by patricia ritter xo

                     just a bit of hand sewing [408"] and this quilt is ready for lily!

home stretch w kaffe

devoted yesterday afternoon to lily's quilt

finished piecing the 13th row late afternoon { one  more row than planned}

got this beauteeeeful amy butler rayon voille pieced for the back xoxo eeee it is so soft and oh sooo pretty xo

decided on this triangle pattern eeee so perfect and easy xo

first row done at 10 pm last night xoxox

annnnd we have  lilac in le jardin xoxoxo

                                          hope to finish up the quilting today...but i might have a broken tooth ...might have been eating nips yesterday afternoon when that happened...so now the dentist is also  on the agenda today .... four more sleeps till lily is home for her visit....happy thursday xoxo pam

home again

had a quick unplanned trip to alberta....last minute might be the best way xoxox
nick told friends that i was away for an emergency baby shower ...
there was a dinner with my nephew,his wife and their  new baby...there was a dinner w my nieces...there was a baby shower...and a quick visit w another nephew and his family...there was lots of sister time and there was fabric !!
