First Friday Fun

Often I feel the pressure of too many have to's and not enough want to's...last night I woke up at 230 am and started thinking about stuff....I have a lot of deadlines looming but who cares about that?? I knew  Jenny was coming over for a sew day today so I started thinking about that instead .....we had fun....she brought over her new pattern and ruler for me to test drive and I loaded a white sandwich on the longarm and we made fun fun fun with scraps!!!

friday's fun

my sweet creative friend Jenny....

this is easy peasy raw edge applique.....

I love putting words into my fun

jenny put her initials in

we had room left on the longarm so we decided to make a pennant as well....super easy straight line quilting...Jenny's idea.....then we cut them apart with a wavy rotary cutter....

then I took a lot of photos...

tried to find the ONE that was just right...

and this is my favorite.....Jenny thank you for a fun  Friday !!!!!!
Now it is back to reality and deadlines...I am working on the weekend for sure......and that is ok....Jenny and I are hoping to make this a Friday tradition.... xoxoxoxooxoxxo Pam

love this crazy ninepatch ...

Ruth made this quilt for her daughter Soleil's school teacher....you can find this fun pattern from Oh, Frannson! here ....Ruth sends her quilts to me form Minnesota...I love opening up  her parcels to see what fun quilt I get to do for her next!!!

Ruth decided on  Sunny Days by Gali Design ...it connected so well with  Soleil's name...

pretty much a perfect design for this quilt
look real close for the teacher's name....

I love Ruth's labels and pieced backs...

Thanks Ruth....I love to work with you....
Hope everyone is having a wonderful long weekend...I am off to do the stairs and plant a few veggies in my garden today.....

this is my new love...I have been doing several sets of these stairs a few days a week with  friends...208 stairs x 8 is our best so far....I am really noticing a difference in strength and positive attitude....

mostly carrots this year...my favorite red sail lettuce.... some happy sunflowers and my absolute favorite cosmo flower

Celebrating Gerry's 90th Birthday

Eva [who teaches quilting at Lake Washington College] organized a very special surprise heart quilt for Gerry's 90th Birthday and along with Gerry's daughter a birthday party was planned.
I volunteered to machine quilt this very special gift....over 90 hearts were made by friends and family....it was wonderful to be a part of all this LOVE !
The heart quilt was hanging in the entrance when Gerry arrived and she was so surprised by the quilt and how many people came to celebrate...she is so very sweet and loved by many !!
Gerry was a Home Ec teacher...she made a lot of clothes and home dec but did not start quilting until 1985....she displayed several of her quilts at her party.....and served a delicious lunch of petit sandwiches, fresh fruit and yummy desserts...

Gerry surrounded by LOVE

a very special label was made

totally connected by quilting

there were so many heart blocks made...well over the 90 desired that another quilt was made!!  Gerry face blends into this sea of hearts...

Gerry's 90th BD quilt
A close up of the quilting...

Gerry had some of her beautiful work on display....hundreds of french knots for the falling snow...

my very favorite....Gerry reproduced this quilt from one her Gramma had made 100 years ago...anyone know the pattern name??? or is it possibly her Gramma's own design??

so very pretty

I think Gerry loves flowers...

love the movement in this quilt

hand quilted...oolala

another beauty

love the contrast of the black...
this one is teeny tiny
