wild rose retreat 2015

i have a lovely pile of finishes from our semi annual hen party quilt retreat

we arrived at the wild rose in orting for our quilt retreat on friday ~ this view of mount rainier is from our balcony

the sewing space was awesome

i finished my proverbial  quilt by denyse schmidt...fun fact ~ it took 3 retreats to complete this quilt ~ i like BIG quilts a LOT

i made a simple checkerboard quilt with thirties fabric for baby xo

i also finished up this sweet quilt for baby  ... it was inspired by a red pepper quilt years ago...

and this was also a rescued quilt...started and abandoned in 2013 ~ i love the simple softness of it and will also finish it up for baby ~ can baby have too many quilts???

i squared up and admired these wonderful wedge blocks  ~ inspired by the 15 degree ruler and material obsession ~  i am looking forward to playing more xo
we were a small group this time...5 of us in a space that fits 10 ~ and we had approximately 28 awake hours of wonderful uninterruptible sewing xo

kay spent  most of her time on this beauty

judy rescued this beauty and managed a few other finishes too

patty worked on this thimble blossom sweetness and spent many hours on applique

and faith finished this beautiful indigo quilt among other projects ~ these fabrics are gorgeous
and i returned home to a wet garden but lots of new blooms

weekend in canada

met my girlfriends here at horseshoe bay on saturday

lucky us, we got to stay in my firend's mother's  apartment in ambleside , west vancouver  with this view xo

and enjoy a few sunsets like this xo

best part was having time with these girls xo

i love that my friend's 88 year old mama is a beautiful weaver
this is attached to her loom

this is her lovely pile of threads

it was a very peaceful weekend catching up with special friends and it was pretty hard to say goodbye to this xo
i am busy doing a few customer quilts this week but getting ready for a wonderful quilt retreat this weekend at wild rose in orting .

the wedge challenge

my very first wedge block looks ok if you hide the center xo

very surprised how challenging it is....i was inspired here at  hyacinthquiltdesigns and  i am also loving  materialobsessions modern wedge

each one has finished up differently...and i managed to sew 26 wedges together instead of the required 24 ~ also needed to cut wholes in 2 of the middles to get them to lay flat ???? so i need to do a bit more homework cuz i am doing something wrong ~ good news is that i am squaring them up and adding borders.
the possibilities are endless with this block...i started out doing just a practice block with denyse schmidt fabric but i am in LOVE with how well it works for this pattern.

happy friday xo pam

be someone that makes you happy

a teeny tiny improv finish for sara...i love this ~ i was inspired by banksy on instagram ~ it was a quote saying "be WITH someone that makes you happy"  and  the WITH was crossed out

i LOVE this heart fabric for the back ~ i found it at ikea a few years back  ~ i have very little left in my stash ~ boohoo and woohoo ~ i love how it makes me sad and happy to use up my fabric stash xo

our hen party quilt group made a simple cotton and steel  quilt for our good sewing friend carey ~ she recently had surgery so a cuddle quilt was the  perfect thing xo

machine quilted w honeycomb by dave hudson ~ so soft with a pieced flannel back and  a simple stamped label ~ nbd our little group whipped this up in a week xo

and for ani's bd i made a few stamped dinner napkins with osnaburg cotton {LOVE} with charcoal stitches around the edges
meanwhile i finished up a sweet little baby quilt for iris with dancing daisy

and emily made a very special quilt for her father-in-law ~ finished up so nice with take five ~ i love this triangle pattern

i say it all the time but it bears repeating  I LOVE MY JOB
