a second sewing room xo

there has been some rearranging in my crowded work room...i now have this quiet space along with my longarm and it feels so good

i moved all my personal sewing to the spare room just down the hall...thanks to nick i now have a 7' x 8' design wall and soon i will have a cutting table , a BIG ironing board and better lighting...i  love having a separate room for  selfish sewing

moving the STASH was the most work...xo

my very FIRST self binding receiving blanket and jelly roll race xo

my very first self binding receiving blanket...great tutorial here at @missouri star quilt company
the special  mitered corner works so well and i love the decorative stitching ...i am definitely in baby mode with our first grandchild due in may xo

and i picked these blues from my stash to make my first jelly roll race quilt at my featherweight class at keepsake last week

it finished up ok considering i DID NOT  follow the simple rules...i used smaller scraps of fabric when  it is important to use the full wof ~ and it is important to cut 18" off your first strip ... that is why a  jelly roll is perfect...i also sewed mine into a tube by accident so a seam ripper was involved... great tutorial the proper way here missouri star quilt company

i found this sweet elephant flannel for the back.. i am going to finish it up along with a few other baby boy quilts real soon

wild rose retreat 2015

i have a lovely pile of finishes from our semi annual hen party quilt retreat

we arrived at the wild rose in orting for our quilt retreat on friday ~ this view of mount rainier is from our balcony

the sewing space was awesome

i finished my proverbial  quilt by denyse schmidt...fun fact ~ it took 3 retreats to complete this quilt ~ i like BIG quilts a LOT

i made a simple checkerboard quilt with thirties fabric for baby xo

i also finished up this sweet quilt for baby  ... it was inspired by a red pepper quilt years ago...

and this was also a rescued quilt...started and abandoned in 2013 ~ i love the simple softness of it and will also finish it up for baby ~ can baby have too many quilts???

i squared up and admired these wonderful wedge blocks  ~ inspired by the 15 degree ruler and material obsession ~  i am looking forward to playing more xo
we were a small group this time...5 of us in a space that fits 10 ~ and we had approximately 28 awake hours of wonderful uninterruptible sewing xo

kay spent  most of her time on this beauty

judy rescued this beauty and managed a few other finishes too

patty worked on this thimble blossom sweetness and spent many hours on applique

and faith finished this beautiful indigo quilt among other projects ~ these fabrics are gorgeous
and i returned home to a wet garden but lots of new blooms
